1. Independent of the IRD
iotax.lk is a product of PFMNext Advisory Services (Pvt) Ltd. It is not part of, appointed by, affiliated with or endorsed by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). iotax is not connected to the IRD's online services: we cannot see your IRD account, we do not send anything to the IRD, and we do not submit returns or pay tax for you.
IRD form names, schedule names and cage numbers appear in iotax only to help you find the right place on the official return.
2. Guidance and estimates, not an assessment
iotax turns your answers to simple questions into an estimated tax calculation and guidance on how to fill in the IRD return. iotax.lk gives an estimate to help you prepare your return. It is not an official IRD assessment. The IRD may assess your tax differently, and its assessment always prevails.
3. Not legal or professional advice
iotax explains the return in plain language, but it does not give legal advice or advice on how to arrange your affairs. With io Submission, our team prepares your return from the documents you provide; the decisions on what to submit remain yours. If your situation is complex, or you are unsure how the law applies to you, speak to a qualified tax adviser.
4. What iotax covers
Supports Year of Assessment 2025/2026 (1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026). The IRD return states a filing due date of 30 November 2026.
iotax covers the most common personal income: employment, sole business and freelance income, interest, rent, dividends and other income, with the usual reliefs, tax credits and the statement of assets and liabilities. Some items on the IRD return are not covered yet, including:
- foreign income and the concessionary rate for foreign-source income;
- terminal benefits such as gratuity and retirement payments;
- gains on the sale of investment assets (capital gains);
- income from a partnership or a trust;
- lottery, betting and other winnings taxed at source;
- losses brought forward from earlier years, and exempt or excluded amounts.
Where an IRD item is not covered, iotax shows it as “not collected” so you can see what is missing. Fill those items in yourself or get professional advice.
5. Results depend on your answers
The figures are only as accurate as the answers and documents provided. Check them against your salary certificates, bank letters, tax deduction certificates and other records before you rely on them.
6. Law and forms change
We build iotax around the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017 (as amended) and the IRD's published forms and guidance for each supported year, and we update it when they change. There can be a delay between a change and our update, so check the IRD's latest notices if something looks different.
7. Your responsibilities
- Review every figure before you confirm it or copy it to the IRD return.
- Submit the official return to the IRD yourself, through the IRD's own channels.
- Meet the IRD's deadlines and pay any tax due to the IRD.
- Keep your records as the law requires.
8. No guarantees
We work hard to keep iotax accurate and available, but we do not guarantee any refund, tax saving, or that the IRD will accept your return or agree with the figures. Our responsibility to you is set out in our terms of service.
9. Other websites
iotax may link to other websites, such as the IRD's site or our payment provider. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.
